MHFA is open to all participants and is ideally aimed at those aged 18 or above. The course is designed to be educational and is not a therapy or support group.

The ability for an organisation to respond effectively to instances where their employees need assistance with their mental health is an important part of creating a positive and healthy culture. We are proud partners with the not for profit Mental Health First Aid Australia and are accredited to run all of their programs. For most workplaces we recommend the standard Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) for workplaces.

Mental Health First Aid is the only accredited Mental Health First Aid program in Australia. If you think Senior First Aid for physical injuries think this program for mental health. This is an accredited program through Mental Health First Aid Australia. The program is internationally recognised and based on scientific and evidence-based research in mental health.
The course is designed for organisations and individuals. It provides a broad overview of all common mental health issues and how to recognise their signs and symptoms, how to approach a sufferer and where to go for professional help. It also aligns closely with the mantra that a sustainable high performance organisation has to be a healthy one.

Our Mental Health First Aid program is delivered either face to face or through a virtual program.
The face to face program program runs for 2 days.

Accreditation is issued Directly by Mental Health First Aid Australia. All participants who have completed a MHFA course will be invited to take a short online accreditation assessment.
Once accredited participants are eligible to be appointed as a Mental Health First Aid officer within the workplace.

All of our facilitators have first-hand lived experience of dealing with Mental Health issues in the real world. The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Skilled Workplace Program recognises workplaces for their commitment to Mental Health First Aid training.
It is our way of celebrating organisations across Australia who not only invest in developing mental health first aid skills in their people, but also show a strong commitment to embedding the program into their organisation’s culture; through actions like senior leadership support, relevant policies, supporting Mental Health First Aid Officers and continuous improvement.
Your organisation will receive a Digital Certificate of Recognition for achieving the requisite level.
Your organisational so received a Digital Badge that can be used on your website and email signatures.
Your organisation will be featured on the MHFA website as MHFA Skilled Workplace.
Your organisation will be recognised int he Mental health First Aid Annual Report and may be be featured in a range of pub forums as a MHFA Skilled workplace.
The MHFA Skilled Workplace program attracts workplaces from varying industries and sizes. Current recognised workplaces include John Holland, Twinings and Co, West Australia Police, Capital Chemists, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Downer Mining, many schools, Shire Councils and more!
Participating in the MHFA Skilled Workplace Program is a clear demonstration of your commitment to building a mentally healthy workplace, both to your staff and your external stakeholders.
The electronic badge you receive can be used to celebrate and promote your achievement broadly.
Workplaces report that being recognised as an MHFA Skilled Workplace has contributed to staff valuing the role and skills of Mental Health First Aiders and helped them to embed the MHFA program in their workplace.
All organisations with an Australian worksite are eligible to apply, as well consortiums, individual worksites of multi-site organisations and individual workplace departments.
Workplaces require a minimum of five full time equivalent (FTE) staff or more to apply.
There are three tiers of recognition – Gold, Silver and Bronze.
To be recognised, workplaces must achieve both criteria:
1. The minimum percentage of staff trained within the last three years; and
2. The minimum number of Actions completed, which demonstrates the commitment to
Mental Health First Aid in your workplace.
E.g. If you are a large workplace, applying for Gold level recognition, you will need to have: • 5% of your FTE workforce trained in Mental Health First Aid; and
• Complete and provide evidence of 8 Actions.
