MHFA courses will teach participants how to listen and respond to someone with a mental health problem, even if they are experiencing a crisis.
Participants will learn how to help someone access the support they might need to successfully manage symptoms. This may include:
– self-help books or websites
– accessing support through their GP, their school, faculty or place of work
– online self-referral
– or support groups.
MFHA courses actively reduce stigma in your community, by providing participants resources to respond appropriately to myths and misunderstandings about mental illness.

In order to meet MHFA accreditation requirements, participants MUST be in attendance for the entire duration of the course and complete the post quiz with a minimum of 80% pass rate.
The Standard Mental Health First Aid course will teach you how to provide initial support to other adults who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence-based Action Plan.
This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
